One of Humphrey Bogart’s best and most overlooked roles is as a crusading metropolitan newspaper editor scrambling to finish an expose on a powerful organized crime chieftain as the paper is being sold out from under him.
Perhaps the finest film ever made about the almost extinct newspaper business is brilliantly written and directed by Richard Brooks with a stellar cast including: Ethel Barrymore, Kim Hunter, Ed Begley, Warren Stevens, Paul Stewart and Martin Gabel.
